Constructed Silence is an acoustic immersive window into the global pandemic, isolating the quietude of the imposed lockdowns in its intimacy and serenity featuring an ambiguous warped sense of time passing, while also voicing the immediate tumultuous frictions that arise worldwide during the last year. Nature emerges in a new dynamic at places where it was too dense and polluted for ecosystems to thrive.
This new work by Henk Schut provides a sonic reflection on the juxtapositions of current times mediated through a 3-dimensional spatial experience. The design of the work represents the globe and the visitor is right in the center of it allowing to channel and take perspective. Generative software was developed by Robin Koek to spatialise open-source global geo-tagged field recordings providing a sonic portal the many stages of the pandemic theatre of modern life over the 24.1 speaker architecture and allow a non-linear structures based on aleatoric principles moving from one environment to another.
